How We Structure a Discovery Call With New Clients

We used to treat discovery calls as a formality before the “real work” started. Now we treat them as the first real design decision of the project, since the questions we ask shape everything that follows.

Our structure is simple: what changed recently that made this project necessary, who needs to approve the final work, and what would count as a failure even if we think it looks great. Those three answers usually tell us more than a full written brief.

The first call sets the tone for the entire project, so we treat it like part of the deliverable.
